Avances tecnologicos en el sector agricola: El impacto de las llantas en la agricultura colombiana

En un contexto donde la productividad laboral del sector agropecuario colombiano se ha mantenido rezagada en comparación con otros países de la región, la adopción de tecnologías avanzadas se vuelve esencial para cerrar esta brecha. Según el CAF, Banco de Desarrollo de América Latina y el Caribe, en los últimos 20 años, la productividad laboral del sector agrícola en Colombia ha estado un 15,1% por debajo del promedio de América Latina, y un preocupante 47,5% por debajo de países con condiciones similares de suelo y clima, como Costa Rica.

Es en este contexto que eventos como el Roadshow Agro Michelin Brasil, que tuvo lugar los días 27 y 28 de marzo de 2024, cobran una importancia significativa. Al invitar a varias empresas colombianas de caña y al Centro de Investigación de la Caña de Azúcar de Colombia (Cenicaña), se abre la puerta a la exploración de soluciones innovadoras que pueden transformar la agricultura en el país.

Los datos presentados en el evento son reveladores. El consumo de combustible, evaluado por hectárea, muestra una clara ventaja para los tractores equipados con llantas Michelin VF (Very High Flexion) con tecnología Michelin Ultraflex. Mientras que el consumo del tractor con llantas de la competencia es de 17,40 litros/ha, con llantas Michelin VF se reduce a 15,80 litros/ha. Esto se traduce en un ahorro significativo de 8.320 unidades monetarias por cada 1000 hectáreas.

Pero el impacto va más allá del ahorro económico. Se estima que este aumento en la eficiencia conduce a un incremento del rendimiento del 2.5%. Con toneladas de caña de azúcar por hectárea alcanzando las 85, y considerando un área cosechada de 1000 hectáreas, el ahorro económico resultante se estima en $262 millones de pesos colombianos por cada 1000 hectáreas.
