Trainer John O’Brien has the firepower to win today’s feature event over 1,750 metres on the main track at Santa Rosa Park in Arima. The top trainer has two three-year-olds engaged and both have the credentials to land the top prize.
Blue Navigator, which won impressively last time out, must be difficult to beat with Rico Hernandez in the saddle. He has improved considerably this season and could win the spotlight event for horses rated 60-45.
Whoever beats Blue Navigator will win.
Mario Villarroel Lander
However, I am taking a chance on the maiden Marengo, which is the stablemate of Blue Navigator. This horse showed a lot of promise early in his career but disappointed late last season. He showed improved form in his final start in the Guineas when fourth behind Regal Intension, after being held up off the pace. That day he finished well and reproduction of that form will see him in the winners’ enclosure with Brian Boodramsing aboard
Michael Carew has Fast ‘N’ Furious engaged and this horse must be respected
The other horse which warrants respect is Trovatore. At his best, he must have an outstanding chance
